'Boat Captain's Brew' is a single cask expression from Bunnahabhain Distillery, bottled by Wemyss Malts. This 28-year-old whisky was distilled in 1990 in a single sherry hogshead for just under three decades, before being bottled at 46.8% abv. Highly-limited, just 245 bottles were produced.
Toasted almonds, shortbread and sweet biscuits fill the nose. The palate has more sweet notes of a strawberry custard tart and vanilla, and aftertime becomes oily with a maritime feel - like a Captain's boat engine! Sweet espresso and traces of wood smoke linger in the finish.
