Hailing from the Highlands' Fettercairn distillery, this is a stunning limited edition single malt that is bound to impress whisky fans far and wide. This 24-year-old expression exemplifies everything that is so wonderful about Fettercairn. Fettercairn was founded in 1824, with its name roughly translating to "the foot of the mountain." The distillery prides itself on the crystal-clear water from the Cairngorms that is used in production. This water is used in Fettercairn's unique cooling rings that help to create more condensation inside the stills. This process ensures that only the lightest vapours rise to the top of the stills for collection. The distillery is best known for producing drams that are rich and nutty in flavour, something that can be seen in our latest bottling! It is a decadent showstopper of a dram - a must-have for Highland whisky fans! The Loch Fyne Fynest Fettercairn 24 Year Old matured until February 2020 in an ex-bourbon hogshead before being re-racked to a first fill Sauternes cask. What you get is a truly unique, fabulously sweet, and rich wee dram. This limited release is free from chill filtration and at its natural colour, bottled at a powerful cask strength of 53.6% abv. Here's my tasting notes, but feel free to make your own as soon as you get your hands on a bottle yourself! Nose: banana, tropical fruits, dates, almonds, and fresh ginger. Palate: pistachios, poached pear, and dark chocolate with a hint of espresso coffee. Finish: treacle, sultanas, and orange zest. The Loch Fyne Fynest Fettercairn 24 Year Old will be available exclusively here at Loch Fyne Whiskies tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd May.
