Blair Athol Distillery sources its water from the Ben Vrackie mountain, and is situated just near to Pitlochry, on the River Tummel. The distillery was founded by Robert Robertson in 1778, who gave the distillery its current name and expanded it significantly in 1825. Much of the spirit nowadays is bourbon-matured and used in blended whisky, although a small amount is aged in sherry casks and sold by independent bottlers as single malt.
