Founded in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford, the Brora distillery now lies dormant in the coastal town in Sutherland, north of Inverness. This ‘lost distillery’ closed its doors in 1983 and subsequently its malts are limited and highly sought after. Often considered to produce some of the peatiest whiskies in the Highlands, supplies of Brora are limited and diminishing.
