Glenmorangie
Glenmorangie distillery was founded by the Matheson Brothers in 1843, and is located on the Dornoch Firth, in the site which originally held a farm distillery named ‘Morangie.’ Distillation began in 1849 and continued until it was sold to Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey in 2004, for £300 million. It can be said that Glenmorangie invented the wood finish, including both port and sherry finished whiskies. The distillery houses a popular visitors centre and distilling museum, and its production capacity stands at around 6 million litres.
