Port Charlotte
Port Charlotte is a mothballed distillery located on the island of Islay, off the West coast of Scotland. Based in the grounds of the former Lochindaal Distillery, it was purpose built in 1829 and in operation until 1929. The Port Charlotte name was revived by Bruichladdich in 2006, with the release of a range of heavily peated expressions. There are plans to build a new distillery, which is set to be completed in 2016, and it is thought that they will continue producing the typical Islay-style heavily peated malts.
