From a distillery founded in the late 1800s and since almost entirely demolished, this rare Glenlochy liquid was one of the few outputs from the distillery not destined for a blend. Laid down in 1979 before being bottled at 53.2% abv in 2024 for Gordon & MacPhail’s ‘Recollection Series 3’, this 44-year-old spirit was matured in a refill American Hogshead with an outturn of only 124 bottles. Exceptional, and exceptionally rare.

Our Hamish has had a sip and jotted down his thoughts.
Nose: Orange oil aromas give way to pressed apple and a hint of ginger. Vibrant dried mango and honeycomb lead to an undertone of beeswax polish.
Taste: Sweet tropical fruit flavours; pineapple and banana combine with lemon sherbet. Strawberry compote and vanilla fudge are followed by notes of pecan.
Finish: A full and smooth finish with toasted almonds and oak.
