Littlemill 2017 Private Cellar Edition 27 Year Old
70cl / 51.3% abv
A single malt whisky from the lost distillery of Littlemill, this is a rare release of a 27 year old expression, created by master blender, Michael Henry. Selected from casks distilled in May 1990, eight refill bourbon casks matured for 26 years were chosen and married together in fresh bourbon barrels to create this limited edition. Bottled at a cask strength of 51.3% abv and presented in a stunning display case with a miniature of the precious liquid and a unique piece of the cask used during maturation, only 500 bottles are available worldwide.
Awarded 93/100 in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2019 and described as “a malt which is the matured embodiment of grace and finesse”.
Tasting notes from Master Blender Michael Henry:
Nose: Green herbal notes of peppermint and eucalyptus lead into natural perfumed floral bursts of honeysuckle and lavender. Cedar wood elements give structure.
Palate: Vibrant fruit is prominent with a background subtle sweet character. Mouth-watering crisp green apple, zesty grapefruit and tart juicy pineapple are followed by green tea notes and a delicate clover honey sweetness.
Finish: Warming spice of stem ginger and nutmeg liven the tongue before a long peppermint and sugar syrup finish.
