Batch 21 in Loch Fyne’s ever-evolving series of blended malts marries the remainder of Batch 20 with refill bourbon cask matured spirit from just two distilleries – albeit with two spirit streams from one of them! Added to the batch are 11-year-old Tamdhu from a refill bourbon barrel, 11-year-old unpeated Annandale from a refill barrel and a touch of peated Annandale, again 11 years old and from a refill barrel. All three were distilled in 2015, the year Living Cask Batch 1 was created. Sweet, fresh, delicately smoky and rather moreish – a cracking summer whisky.

Our Hamish has had a sip and jotted down his thoughts.
Nose: fresh and fruity – pineapple chunks, fruit cocktail syrup, then buttery shortbread and creamy custard. Palate: lively, with more pineapple notes, green apple and kiwi fruit. Finish: crisp, with a touch of cinnamon spice and woodsmoke.
