The Macallan Gold is part of the 1824 range, and was released in 2012. The colour themed range replaced the traditional Macallan distillery's age-statement expressions. Produced in first fill and refill sherry casks, using 9-15 year old spirit, the result is in a smooth and rich single malt.

Nose: big citrus notes coming through with sherbet lemons and orange peel which then turns into more of a floral sweetness with hints of oak.
Palate: the citrus raises its head again but this time accompanied by warming ginger and cinnamon.
Finish: sweeter on the finish with barley sugar and an oaky dryness.
