Octomore 12.3 Description
A sherried cracker of a single malt. This Octomore 12.3 is distilled back in 2015 from the 2014 harvest of Octomore farm grown concerto barley. This spirit was then put into two types of casks, and I’m afraid we’re gonna get a wee bit technical. 75% of the spirit was put into first fill American whiskey casks, and the second portion was matured full term in first fill PX sherry butts from Jerez. It was malted to 118.1ppm, and this spent five years maturing on Islay. Free from chill filtration and colouring free, this was bottled at a hearty 62.1% abv. One that will definitely put hairs on your chest!
Nose: light citrus, honey, milk chocolate, fig, raisin, vanilla, oak, charcoal, smoky.
Palate: peppery floral notes, dark chocolate, earthy peat, sherry fruits, barley sugar.
Finish: toasted oak, charcoal, dried figs, salted lemons.
