This 11 year old from Campbeltown's Springbank distillery has been aged for 9 years in bourbon casks before receiving a second maturation in Cabernet Franc Barriques. Limited to just 9,000 bottles worldwide, this peated single malt from the oldest operational distillery in Campbeltown is bottled at 55.9% abv.
Nose: plenty of peat before red wine notes emerge with sweet marzipan, toffee, raspberry jam and Eton Mess.
Palate: more peat alongside sweet caramelised sugar and toffee apples, with fruity notes of stewed rhubarb, crisp red apple and a buttery biscuit flavour.
Finish: sooty, smoky, burnt embers and dry oak vanilla tannins with some antiseptic notes.
