48% vol. / 70cl
A good-value and relatively young Laphriog, aged in smaller casks for increased contact with the liquid.A full bodied yet smooth and peaty expression. Double maturated in two barrels made of American oak, then transferred to quarter casks and left to rest in the warehouse just a short distance away from the Atlantic ocean.
Nose: Big peat smoke notes as if sitting at a campfire on Islay itself. Behind the smoke though there is a distinct tropical fruit and banana note making for an intriguing experience.
Palate: The massive peaty notes carry over to the palate as well as a hint of sea spray - very Islay! Behind these powerful salty smoky notes a gentle sweetness begins to emerge.
Finish: Long and dry with an ashy smoke continuing long after the whisky is gone.
