A rather unusual Speysider. Meaty, punchy and complex. No chill filtration and with no added colouring. Traditional practices continue as Craigellachie uses old fashioned worm tubs to cool and condense the distilled spirit.
Nose: Pork crackling and pencil eraser, pineapple with citrus and fresh fruits.
Palate: Sweet burnt cake and smoky cereal.
Finish: Punchy, complex and slightly smoky.
A unusual and more unique Speyside malt, with a light, slightly floral nose, and more full bodied than the initial colour suggests.
The addition of a little water sweetens this dram bringing notes of pineapple to the fore, but still with a subtle hint of wood smoke in the background.
I thought rich rice pudding notes, cream, a touch of pineapple and even a small amount of smoke.
Delighted to see Craigellachie return with an interesting range of ages in the core range.
A big, rich and meaty Speysider. Quite unusual, but very welcome – Boy does this deliver!
Like the traditional look of the packaging, and the liquid compliments this. Great addition to the drinking collection with its fuller character.
A long time away – but well worth the wait!
