The Glenlivet

Glenlivet is the best selling single malt whisky in the USA, and is known as the first legally licensed distillery in Scotland - owner George Smith became the first distiller in the Highlands to obtain a licence, much to the dismay of his illegal smuggling rivals in the region. Its popularity in the States could be due to the fact that it was one of the first Scotch whiskies to be exported internationally following the lifting of prohibition in 1933. Owned by the Chivas Brothers, the distillery has a capacity today of 5.8 million litres.
