A cracking release from independent bottlers, Single Cask Nation, this dram hails from one of Islay’s true icons, the Bowmore distillery. Distilled back in 2004 and given a four-year finish in a 2nd fill Spanish oak Oloroso Hogshead, it’s had a full 21 years to really mature before being presented here at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV, with only 215 bottles available.

Our Hamish has had a sip and jotted down his thoughts.
Nose: Bold peat smoke weaves round roasted tropical fruits, with charred pineapple, mango and papaya to the fore, backed up by BBQ sweetcorn, chocolate pralines, oak spice and a touch of sandalwood.
Palate: Smoke eases to reveal tart blackcurrants, creamy baked cheesecake and a hint of Daim bar sweetness, all tied together with well-judged sherry influence and malty depth.
Finish: Long, with a gentle coastal brine.
