Waterford Ballybannon 1.1 Description
Famous for their wine-like terrior approach to whisky, Waterford present this peated expression made from barley grown in Ballybannon in Co. Carlow. Perfect for peating, it is grown in heavy, lime-rich soils adjacent to sphagnum-dense inland bog. The result is the first collaboration between Irish barley and Irish peat in many many years. Bottled at 50% abv.
Nose: tobacco, lemon peel, worn leather and burned grass.
Palate: earthy peat, oak, grains, orange, and herbal spices.
Finish: spicy finish lingering with charred oak.
