William Larue Weller 2016 Description
Part of the Antique Collection from Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky, this straight bourbon whiskey has been named for pioneering distiller WL Weller. Weller substituted wheat, a soft grain, for the traditional rye grain in the mash bill, to create a mild, gentle and smoother taste.
This 2016 release was distilled in the winter of 2003 and matured for at least 12 years and seven months in new white oak barrels with a level 4 char, charred for 55 seconds. Just 145 hand-picked barrels were married together to produce this limited edition release, bottled uncut and unfiltered at a barrel-proof strength of 67.7% abv.
