What Distilleries Are On the Isle of Skye?
Before the trip is made though, there is one burning question asked time and again by local and international whisky-headed holidaymakers alike - what Isle of Skye distilleries are there? Well, you're in the right place to find out!

The largest of the inner Hebridean islands, Skye is an iconic place with a landscape that has inspired myths, legends, song, and stories for generations. And with a real history as thrilling as its mythical one, this corner of the world has seen everything from Viking invasions and smuggling to rebellious Princes and clan wars.
The landscape is just as dramatic as its history with flora and fauna, fresh water springs, peatlands, sea waters, and volcanic leftovers, all of which feed into the unique liquids which the island produces.
In recent years, the distilleries on the stunning island have flourished, with gin, rum, and whisky distillers popping up to add to the area's spirited heritage.
1. Torabhaig Distillery

Torabhaig has always taken a distinctive approach. From the careful restoration of the historic farmstead into a state-of-the-art distillery, which is only the second licensed Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery on the Isle of Skye, to a commitment to nurturing local talent. Rather than following convention, Torabhaig employs individuals from the local community, bringing fresh perspectives to the craft.
These Journeymen are trained with care and dedication to become the next generation of distilling experts. The distillery also actively supports the wider community by championing local businesses through its gift shop, sponsoring the local shinty team and collaborating with the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture.
2. Talisker Distillery
Since its founding by the MacAskill brothers in 1830 at Carbost, Talisker has drawn enduring inspiration from the Isle of Skye.
Through generations of distillers, shifts in ownership, and even the challenges of fire, the distillery has remained steadfast in its connection to the island. Skye continues to lie at the very heart of Talisker’s identity and the character of its whisky.
3. Pràban na Linne

Established in 1976 by the distinguished Scottish entrepreneur Sir Iain Noble, The Gaelic Whiskies were created with the aim of offering high-quality, authentic Scotch whisky to connoisseurs across the Gaelic-speaking Hebridean Islands.
With a steadfast commitment to quality, it stands among the few remaining independent enterprises within the Scotch whisky industry and one of the very few to be headquartered in the Scottish Hebrides.
Pràban na Linne, translates from Gaelic as “a small smugglers’ enterprise on the Sound of Sleat.” Today, the shop and headquarters of The Gaelic Whiskies are situated on the picturesque Sleat peninsula, beside the historic stone pier of Eilean Iarmain, enjoying breathtaking views across the Sound to the distant hills of Knoydart.
Now internationally recognised, The Gaelic Whiskies are held in high esteem by whisky connoisseurs around the world.
4. Isle of Raasay Distillery

5. Isle of Skye Distillers

Rooted in the heritage of the Isle of Skye, provenance lies at the core of everything undertaken by the team at Misty Isle. This dedication is reflected not only in their sustainable approach to distilling but also in their continued support of the local community with every bottle produced.
The award-winning, small-batch Misty Isle gins and vodka take their inspiration from the island’s untamed landscape. Each gin is carefully crafted using a selection of the finest botanicals, either cultivated in the distillery’s own garden or hand-foraged within a quarter-mile radius.
The vodka is triple-distilled, drawing on the pure spring waters of the nearby Storr Lochs. With the distillery now undergoing expansion, Misty Isle’s eagerly awaited Eilean a’ Cheò whisky will soon join the portfolio.
