Hamish Says
Alfred, Lord Tennyson (1809-1892) became poet laureate to Queen Victoria in 1850 and remained in the post until his death, making him the longest serving to date. Considered by many to be the finest poet of the Victorian era, Lord Tennyson was the first peer to be created for his writing and is most remembered for his tribute to British cavalrymen, 'The Charge of the Light Brigade'.
