Bruichladdich

Bruichladdich is located on Islay, the unofficial whisky capital of Scotland. Founded in 1881 and subsequently shut down in the early 1990's, it was given a new lease of life when purchased by a group of private investors and is now well known as making some of the most innovative malt whiskies. The distillery lies sheltered by the rugged Islay mountain range, the Rhinns, and this attributes to the more gentle character of the spirit. Saying that, Bruichladdich has also created one of the most heavily peated single malts, The Octomore, which has a phenol content of 131ppm.
