In the wide and varied world of whisky, we find it usually pays to be quite circumspect when talking about whisky. Except when you are talking about this! This is Glenlivet 80 Year Old Generations, which quite simply blows everything else out of the water. A statement on whisky, a symbol of both Glenlivet and Gordon & Macphail’s identities, this is the oldest scotch single malt ever bottled. Originating in a quiet wee corner in the north of Scotland, this might be one of our greatest exports! Laid down to rest on the 3rd of February 1940, Gordon & Macphail chose a first fill sherry butt to lay the spirit in, and it was only taken out of the barrel on the 5th of February 2020. After 80 years in a stunning cask, the depth of flavour make this an archetypal dram, a defining expression for two titans of the Scottish whisky industry. Us humbdle folk at Loch Fyne Whiskies are glad to be a part of it. Read More

Hamish Says...

Our Hamish has had a sip and jotted down his thoughts.

Nose: peat smoke, complex, mellow hints of almond oil, freshly planed wood, gorse, scented hand-soap.

Palate: oily, hints of dried sweet fruits, hints of Oloroso sherry influence, menthol.

Finish: menthol, spicy, hugely vibrant, fully coating.
