'Candied Violets' is a single cask expression from Bowmore Distillery, bottled by Wemyss Malts. This 31-year-old whisky was distilled in 1988 in a single sherry hogshead for just over three decades, before being bottled in 2019 at 46% abv. Highly-limited, just 240 bottles were produced.
Petrolic and mineral-like aromas entice the nose, along with notes of violet sweets, rosemary and Edinburgh Rock. As the bottling name suggests, candied violets fill the palate, alongside lime zest, sugar-coated fruits, floral honey and citrus fruits. Gentle peat smoke lingers in the finish with a hint of burnt rosemary.
