Bowmore Whisky

On the shores of Loch Indaal, Islay, stands the Bowmore Distillery, opened in 1779, making it one of the oldest functioning distilleries in Scotland. The Bowmore whiskies are well known for their rich smoky flavours, typical of the Islay Malts. It is a combination of smoked floor-malted barley and the dark and damp maturation conditions that attribute to the distinctive taste and character, as the distillery is home to the only maturation warehouse that sits below sea level.
