Glenglassaugh was founded in 1875 by Colonel James Moir. Located on the Banffshire Coast, one mile west of the fishing village of Portsoy, Glenglassaugh is a true coastal distillery, and looks out over the white sandy beach of Sandend Bay. The distillery is just outside the Speyside region in the North East of Scotland making it a Highland distillery. The Glenglassaugh 1978 cask number 1803 was matured over 35 years and finished in the finest Sherry Hogshead. This smooth expression is part of the Batch 1 release of single casks. It is non chill filtered and of natural colour.
Nose: Mince pies with clean, sweet vanilla custard and rich fruitcake.
Palate: Clover honey and almonds, a gentle aged oak note giving way elegantly to softer fruits.
Finish: Long - Marzipan fruits to the fore, then lingerning distant spices.
