Founded in 1825, Port Ellen is often considered to be one of the great lost distilleries of Scotland. It last produced spirit from 1967 until 1983, when the Scotch whisky market became saturated and it did not survive. Diageo now own the remaining stocks of Port Ellen, and there have been official expressions released every year since 2001. As stocks are running low, it is expected that this pattern will eventually discontinue, which makes these whiskies highly sought after.
This Authors’ Series is a range of exclusive single malt whiskies, created by the prestigious blenders and bottlers, Hunter Laing & Co.
Distilled in the final year of Port Ellen production. A whisky that is seen by many as the most collectable in the world - this 1983 Port Ellen is limited to 2964 individually numbered bottles.
