Port Ellen
Founded in 1825, Port Ellen is often considered to be one of the great lost distilleries of Scotland. It last produced spirit from 1967 until 1983, when the Scotch whisky market became saturated and it did not survive. Diageo now own the remaining stocks of Port Ellen, and there have been official expressions released every year since 2001. As stocks are running low, it is expected that this pattern will eventually discontinue, which makes these whiskies highly sought after.
