As the recognised gateway to Islay, it’s fitting that our wee store in Inveraray has two very special - and limited - releases to buy here online, both of which were launched recently at the world famous Islay whisky festival.
The first is Jura Tastival, an 18yo aged in sparkling wine casks and bottled at cask strength. Only 3970 bottles of the 52% abv spirit – described as having the flavour of raspberries, ginger and spice – are available to buy at a cost of £89 each.
Meanwhile Ardbeg celebrated its 200th anniversary during the festival with the launch of Perpetuum. The inimitable Mr Lumsden has taken inspiration from his predecessors’ efforts over the last two centuries to create another bottle of peaty perfection.
There are 12000 bottles available worldwide at a cost of £85.

But thanks to lads and lassies at Loch Fyne Whiskies, who are always up for a laugh, you can actually win a bottle. Just tell us the funniest or most ridiculous name you’ve ever come across for any drinks brand anywhere in the world. And it has to be real! Just leave your answer in the comments section below.
Good luck, and ta-ra for now.
PS. Dear Ardberg, please don't jump to any silly conclusion about this competition being inspired by the name Perpetuum. It’s a just a very happy and timely coincidence!
